About Dominick-Lofino Park in Beavercreek

We are so lucky to have secured such a beautiful venue for Beavercreek's Art in the Park! The Dominick-Lofino park is sometimes called the YMCA park in casual conversation due to the YMCA being located right next to (on?) it. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting this park, you really should take the time to make it down there.

There is a beautiful pond here, completed with a stage area, fishing ledge and a paved path that loops the water. The scenery around the pond includes a field, secluded tree-lined walks, a wooden bridge and even a bit of wildlife, if you're lucky! This is the perfect setting for our art walk, blending nature with the work of local artists.

The playground has a large picnic shelter for family gatherings or just a shaded picnic for your brood. Bring the trikes and big wheels if your kids would like to ride around the small concrete path that trails around the playground just for them. The sandbox is huge and has a few diggers to play with.
Older kids will enjoy the skate park, or just watching the skaters at the fence, which borders the playground. Make sure that the kids wear all the necessary pads and helmets going in here, because the hills and half pipes are for novice to expert skaters.

The meditative labyrinth at Dominick-Lofino Park
There are skaters of all ages, and sometimes you’ll run into some language and behavior from teens that is difficult to tolerate. Personally, I find that walking into the skate park for a brief chat usually solves the problem. This issue isn’t very common during the day while school is in session, and most of the skaters are very respectful of the families next door.

My favorite part of the park is the simple labyrinth located just behind the restroom building. This is a traditional stepping-stone path for quiet contemplation and walking meditation. One slow walk around the labyrinth is a good cure for a stressed mind.

There is an amphitheater here where regular events take place throughout the warmer months. Events include kids movies, concerts and other live shows. Drive by the park anytime during the week to glance at the park sign and catch what’s going on for the weekend. I haven’t been able to locate an online schedule of events for this park.
